Joint St. Rose/St. Mary’s Pastoral Council
Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011
6:00 pm, St. Mary’s Parish Meeting Center

Bill Klegin called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm at St. Mary’s Parish Meeting Center.  Lincoln said the prayer.  Minutes were read by all and approved by consensus.

Present:   Lincoln Wood, Bill Klegin, Tom Neely, Joe Jaskolski, Leeann Little, Mary Behnke, Mary Ann and Ken Rohan, Kathy Jarvis, Karen Balthazor, Anne Beggs, Jim Kluz, and Andy Heckman.

Absent:  Tom Jozwiak, Dan Gast, Phil Johnson, and Joe Lehman.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Finance:  SM:  Roofs have been repaired.  Instead of handicapped accessible, we call the restroom “Family Restroom.”   

SR:  Steve Heckman not able to stay on the committee.  They will meet quarterly instead of monthly.

TCE:  No report

Worship:  No report

Human Concerns:  No report

PCCW SR:  Crucifix ready for display at SR and to be mailed out to Kaltag.

PCCW SM:  Submitted report.  Discussed a trip Down a Country Road.  Fall Vicariate meeting at Tigerton read.   Spring Vicariate Meeting announced.  Christmas potluck party, fill stockings for distribution on Christmas Eve.  Fund Raiser selling Stanley and Watkins products until Nov. 23rd.

Worship and Spiritual Life:   “Song of Mark” video shown and discussed for presentation.

B & G SM:  Neely reported that the handicapped entrance is finished.  They are ready to accept bids for parking lot lights and heating system.  Bids are 42K – 50K.  Plows are working well.  Sanctuary lights 15K-18K bid from Fond du Lac.  Repair or restore to be decided by SM Council.

Parish Director’s Comments:

Parish Director Report for October 2011 was passed out to present members.  Major areas of focus: Evangelization, Stewardship as a Way of Life, and Communication.

Review priorities from Leadership Summit 1/23/10: Young Adults, Accessibility (space), Vibrant community of adult disciples, and School.  Middle and High School RE/Confirmation preparation begun.  Stewardship Witness Talks, Ministry Fair, and Renewal.  Annual Meeting, Bishop Ricken’s Pastoral letter, Roman Missal, Parish Directory.  Song of Mark coming up.  Father Girotti “Know Your Faith” March 15 at 6:30 pm at SM.  Farm Tech Days July 2012.

Evan Finger’s funeral will be at 11 am tomorrow.  Annual meetings this past weekend.

OLD BUSINESS:

            1.  Parish Directory Update:  Leeann Little and Kathy Klegin are heading up the committees.    257 SR and 90 SM appointments have been taken.  There will be more appointments available after Thanksgiving.  If they have to scan pictures, it may cost $25 for copyright issues.  Lynn Zienert and Sandy Finger are in charge of layout.

            2.  Lincoln read from Diocesan “Parishes Called to be Holy …” Be a school of prayer.  Training in spirituality:  Prayer, Study, Generosity and Evangelization.  Homework for Council members:  read pages 1-5.

NEW BUSINESS:

1.  Song of Mark, the video, was watched by all present.  All were impressed.

2.  Human Concerns Hardship fund guidelines:

§         Ash Wednesday Collection

§         Thanksgiving Collection

§         Bring Scripture alive – in a fun and creative way, through “Song of Mark.”

       3.  Focus on Eucharist – Deeper reverence, appreciation.

4.  Parish Self Study – Evaluation for January meeting

5.  Annual Meeting Update – Tabernacle, Kneelers, Crucifix.  About $36K from Kraut Festival.

 

Open Forum:

§         Collection for Deacons.  They get stipends and per diem if they ask for it.  Tabled.

Next meeting January 17th at 6 pm at St. Rose Meeting Room.
